Es gibt schon sehr seltsame Dinge auf diesem Planeten. Zum Beispiel eine weitgehend unbebaute, ja weitgehend ignorierte Insel in olympischer Steinwurfweite von den teuersten Baugründen dieses Planeten. Einfach nur mal so zum vorstellen: Man steht auf einer naturbelassenen Wiese, Rechts und Links Uferböschung und der leise vorsichhin gurgelnde East-River, es windet ziemlich und die Sonne quält sich nur gelegentlich durch die grauen Wolkenmassen. Um einen herum im wesentlichen Leere, ein verfrorenes Liebespärchen ein Stückchen oberhalb, der Fluss eine gemächlich dahinströmende graue Masse..
Und dann, quasi als Einbruch aus einem anderen Universum, die hochaufschiessende Skyline von Manhattan. Zuvorderst der Riegel des UNO-Gebäudes, daneben und dahinter schlankere Wohntürme, das Empire State und das Chrysler eine Reihe dahinter versetzt, quasi über die Schultern der jüngeren Geschwister schauend.
Wie seltsam, wie schön, wie unwirklich.
